I love travel and my list of must see destinations never gets any shorter, just longer! The more I learn, the more I want to see. Over the 40 years I have worked in this industry I have had the opportunity to work in airlines, outbound wholesaling, domestic wholesaling and retailing. The most rewarding job I have done, is owning Adventure Destinations where we get to show you just how affordable a destination is, even when it is perceived to be expensive. My passions are Africa, Canada and our own beautiful country. I had the amazing experience of managing luxury safari camps for 2½ years in Botswana and also the good fortune of meeting my husband. I will never lose the love of the open bush and African wildlife in a natural environment.

Other destinations I have been to include United Kingdom, Europe, Turkey, Egypt, Malawi, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, South Africa, Mozambique, Canada, California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, New York, Alaska, Tennessee, Colorado, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Washington, Hawaii, Argentina, Brazil, Singapore, Malaysia, Borneo, Vietnam, China, Thailand, Hong Kong, India, Nepal and of course all states of Australia. Awe-inspiring experiences include gorilla and chimp trekking in Uganda, small ship cruising in Alaska, bear viewing in northern British Columbia, RV-ing in Utah and the Northern Territory, polar bears and snorkelling with beluga whales in Churchill Canada and Northern Lights in Northern Canada – can’t wait for my next experience where ever it may be!

I have always had the desire to be in the travel industry, as I love to experience other people’s culture, taste traditional unique foods and learn about the city’s history.  Destinations I have travelled to are Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam, India, Brunei, Borneo (Sabah & Sarawak), South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Kenya & Tanzania.  I also had the wonderful  experience of a Royal Caribbean International cruise from Sydney to Darwin onboard Radiance of the Seas.  Some of the things I will never forget are the experience of a motorbike ride in Da Lat, overnighting on a traditional Vietnamese junk in Ha Long Bay, seeing the beautiful Taj Mahal, enduring a rainforest canopy walk at Ulu Temburong National Park, viewing the orang-utans at the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre and the Borneo Sun Bears at the Conservation Centre, witnessing sea turtles laying eggs at Selingan Island and releasing of baby turtles back into the wild.  Africa is always amazing but my favourites are a helicopter flight over Victoria Falls, a Sossusvlei Scenic Flight, a male elephant running after the vehicle whilst on safari in the Greater Kruger National Park, mokoro in the Okavango Delta and game drives in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Serengeti National Park.

I have learnt a lot working at Adventure Destinations, and my knowledge continues to grow in selling the unique destinations we specialise in.

My love for travel began with Japan. In high school I started to learn all that I could about the country and I soon fell in love with the food, the culture and the language.  From there I went on to major in Japanese at university and go on exchange in Japan for a year. Whilst in Japan, I ventured out to explore the country and the experience was amazing and endless. After returning home, my love for travel led me to work at a wholesale rail company specializing in luxury rail around the world. Though I was not aware of the world of rail travel at the time, it sure opened me up to another form of travel.

I have had the opportunity to travel to Canada where I travelled on the Rocky Mountaineer and visited Western Canada including Vancouver and Banff.  I would say I’m still new to the travel industry having only worked in travel for 3 years but my travel list is not short. Just last year in 2018 I went on a solo trip to Scandinavia for 4 weeks, a trip I’d definitely do again but maybe not in winter as it was cold, blizzards and all! I believe travel is all about the experience and being at Adventure Destinations I get to share my love for travel and also be part of creating that dream holiday for the next traveler that comes our way.

Other countries I’ve also been to include Germany, Switzerland, Taiwan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and the Philippines.

I have been a keen traveller since my initial trip to Bali and Thailand. This was followed shortly after by a quick whiz around Europe which turned into a holiday of 18 months working in London, Scotland and on a kibbutz in Israel, and included visiting Scandinavia, Greece and Yugoslavia. Highlights of my extensive travel later included travelling the length of Africa from “Cairo to The Cape”, and a trip from London to Kathmandu finishing with several months exploring India and trekking in Nepal.

I later spent several years living in England where some of the time was spent working in Bath, managing the accounts department for a budget tour operator. Most recently I have visited Vietnam, Italy, Japan, China and Laos. I quickly settled in to life running the accounts department at Adventure Destinations and I’m still dreaming of the many countries I will one day visit.

My passion for travel began after a student exchange in Japan, not only was this an incredible experience and an opportunity to immerse myself in the Japanese culture, it also made me realize that there was a big, wide world waiting for me to explore! My career in the travel industry has given me the opportunity to work in corporate and retail agencies but the time I have spent working in wholesale has certainly allowed me to fulfil my ambition of seeing the world!  Destinations I have visited include South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Chile, Peru, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, USA, Borneo, Malaysia, Greek Islands, Turkey, Singapore, United Kingdom, Europe, Maldives, India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, New Zealand, Fiji and of course in our own backyard of Australia too!

The most exciting thing about travel is immersing yourself in the destination; learning the culture, sampling the local cuisine and stepping out of your comfort zone to enhance your experience. Working with the amazing and diverse product at Adventure Destinations allows me to relive my passion for travelling through the pages of our travel brochures and continue to dream about where my next destination will be!

I have always loved traveling for as long as I can remember. From the early family holidays squashed in the back of the family car, to my 6 month Rotary exchange program, I caught the travel bug early. Starting my career in retail travel I was lucky enough to see parts of the world with open eyes and youthful enthusiasm. I have since been fortunate to work in Corporate and Wholesale travel which has further developed my knowledge within the industry.

Having travelled extensively across the globe, I have had many memorable experiences, often involving a combination of the local lifestyle, culture and food. Some of the destinations I have visited include, West Coast Canada including the Majestic Rockies, Alaska’s vast landscapes via train, road & plane including the Arctic Circle and through the Inside Passage via Small Ship Cruising, East & West Coast USA, Colorado Ski Fields, Hawaiian Islands, Bermuda, Thailand, Bali, Fiji, Vanuatu, Cook Islands, South Pacific Cruising, UK, Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Monaco, Greece, Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Penang, New Zealand as well as all states and territories within Australia. Now working at Adventure Destinations for over 5 years I have the opportunity to sell some of my favourite parts of the world in Canada, Alaska & America. Whether it’s hiking through bear country in British Columbia, exploring the National Parks of USA by motorhome or polar plunging in the Inside Passage of Alaska, I believe there’s a perfect travel experience out there for all of us.

My first overseas holiday was a family trip to Hawaii in 2012 where we stayed on a couple of the islands. It was then I discovered my love for travel.  Since then, I have enjoyed tours across Europe & the UK. While on a tour of New Zealand I was lucky enough to go sky diving as well as bungee jumping. I have travelled to North America, including both the East and West coasts of Canada along with New York, Boston, Chicago, Washington D.C and Los Angeles. I have experienced Summer in the Canadian Rockies and Christmas in Quebec.

Since my original trip to Hawaii, I have since returned there and visited another one of the beautiful islands . I had an amazing helicopter flight over the Na Pali Coast which was absolutely spectacular.  I have travelled to Borneo & Malaysia, somewhere I did not think I would get to visit. It was great to be able to see many of the places I have read about every day in itineraries, including the Sun Bears, Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre and Turtle Island.

I have also just recently been on a short break to Bali which I found to be really enjoyable.  Although I am relatively new to the travel industry, working at Adventure Destinations has helped me to learn the tricks of the trade as well as make my travel bucket list even longer.  I look forward to travelling to many more destinations, hopefully in the not too distant future.
